Cloudy and Drizzly Day

We woke up to cloudy skies and cool temps this morning.  It looks like its going to be a cloudy and drizzly day.

Katrina headed off to work.  I dropped Brandon off at day camp then headed home to do some online job hunting.

Pizza Observation:  I was at the grocery store this morning and noticed the frozen pizza section.  I know that nothing beats a fresh pizza, but sometimes frozen just has to do.  They have frozen pizzas in Italy and I noticed that they are cheaper (event with the exchange rate) than they are here.  You can buy good quality frozen pizzas for a euro or two.  The 1 or 2 dollar pizzas here are the cheap paper like brands.  The good brands here are 5 - 10 per pizza - much more expensive than in Italy.  I'm really going to miss Italian pizza, fresh and frozen.

I spent much of the morning alternating between job hunting and assembling bookshelves for Brandon's room.  I hope to find some employment that I can begin sometime after we return from Colorado in three weeks.

One of Brandon's new books shelves in his room.  He will have two more white book shelves, when I get them assembled. The old brown ones are falling apart and are not big enough for all of his books.  This kid could run his own library.  I'll post pictures when his books arrive from Italy.

I just pulled a load of laundry out of the dryer.  Oh how we have missed a dryer.  Most Italians don't have or use dryers.  They hang everything.  That was not a big deal for me.  I didn't mind it.  What I minded was the combination of hard water and line drying that led to stiff clothing.  Our clothes are now soft again!

This afternoon the locksmith came to replace our front door locks and re-key the garage locks.  Now we are back to one key and its a new one - we didn't want to keep the same key that our renters have used for two years.

Brandon had another fun day at day camp.  I'm glad we signed him up.  It's much better than him sitting around the house and telling me he's bored...and I was able to get quite a bit accomplished today.  I even sent off another job application.

I made pesto con pasta for dinner this evening.  Unfortunately, I misread the recipe and put 1 tsp of salt in the pesto instead of 1/4 tsp.  It was a little salty, but not horrible.

  2. The sticky notes are Brandon's filing system that he devised for his books.
