About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Moving Day

The movers arrived at 8am this morning.  Within 10 minutes they already had two boxes packed.  They are knocking it out!  I feel sorry for the guy who is packing Brandon's room - he has so much random stuff.  Why do 10 year olds collect so much junk...I mean stuff.

9:43am - About half the house is packed.  Boxes are being stacked in each room  There is one guy per room and they are cranking it out.

10:24am - The living room, dining room, and our bedroom are packed.  Brandon's room is almost done.  Kitchen is getting there.  Frames, small furniture, and bikes still to go.

Stevie, curled up in the corner of the bathroom.  This was a good moment for him.  He spent most of his time hiding behind the bidet.

12:30pm - Almost the whole house is packed.  All that is left is:  my mosaic supplies, bikes and bike trailer.

4:30pm - Everything is moved out, the truck moved out to the street and transferred everything into the waiting container truck.  Now our container is off and heading to Oregon, one week and 2 days ahead of us.  Too bad it will take 6 - 8 weeks + customs clearance before it reaches us.

Our goods are transferred to the container that was sitting out on the street.

Our goods get a head start to Oregon, via the port in Venice.

Brandon is home from his last full day of school.  Tomorrow is a half day.  When he gets out, we will head to Venice one last time.

  1. I just saw your comment on Fausto's blog (isn't he the nicest person!?), and now I've added your blog to my blogroll, so I can read through the archives to find out about your stay in Italy. You must have mixed emotions about leaving Italy. Buona fortuna!
