About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Venice

As soon as Brandon was out of school, we headed to Venice, arriving just after dark.  In the past we have parked on the mainland in Mestre and caught the train into Venice.  This time we drove across the causeway and parked in the Venice parking garages, just to see if it was convenient.  24 hours would end up costing us 30 euro, but it was very convenient.

Our plan was to head over to our favorite Chinese restaurant for dinner, then wander around Venice until we were tired.

Venice is magical at night, especially after the day tourists are gone and the streets are quiet.

Carnevale begins tomorrow!

The Rialto Bridge was decoratively lit for Carnevale

Masks were available for purchase everywhere!

This view from the Rialto Bridge never gets old

Interesting and colorful glass

Our home for the night - Alloggi Barbaria.  It provides a clean, no frills, affordable place to stay in Venice.

Tomorrow we will wander Venice and hopefully get some good pictures as Carnevale begins.
