About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Last Conference

This morning we attended Brandon's last conference of the school year. He did a great job showing us his porfolio as well as leading us through several different stations. The most enjoyable part for me was listening to him speak Italian and listening to him play the recorder. He didn't have any experience at either of these activities when we moved here. He has grown so much from this experience.

As many of you know we had to leave Tasha, our Golden Retreiver, in the US. My sister and family generouly offered to give her a home. They have a golden, Rizzo, that is about half of Tasha's age.

I've copied her latest email about Tasha because I thought it was a great story:

"I've been meaning to tell you a story about Tasha! We have been letting her out front to go potty, cuz the stairs have been getting hard for her...so anyway, I usually just let her out front and do a few things while she does her business. I don't really watch her cuz she always stays in our yard or in the field and just comes to the front door when she is done. Anyway, it was dark and I was doing dishes and all of a sudden Rizzo starts going crazy and barking...so I go out front and look for Tasha and she and a fox are just standing there about arm's length apart and staring at each other!!!!! It was only after I called her that the fox ran off! They were just checking each other out and I am sure the fox was wondering why this dog was not trying to chase him! It was so funny! So when I called her, she just came trotting up like nothing happened and was just her happy little self! I could not believe it! I think she made a friend! It was so cute!"

I went for my regular 40km ride to Lurago di Erba and back. It sure was a warm one...and I had headwinds on the way back. It was a balmy 82 degrees when I arrived home. Stupid pc keeps crapping out on me once I arrive home. Not sure whats up with that?!?!

Brandon and I walked over to Gelaterria Jody after school today. It is sort of the official hot day after school hangout and they make some of the best granitas around. I enjoy Coca Cola, but their fruit granitas are fantastic. There is a nice mini piazza (piazetta) out front where all the kids and parents hang out.

Katrina had a work related dinner to attend this evening, so Brandon and I were on our own. I made a piadina and Brandon had 2 involtini primavera.
