About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Italian Lessons

We woke up to sunny skies and a forecasted high of 28c (86 degrees).

Katrina and I swapped our Italian lesson times this morning so that she could attend the Benvenuto club coffee. Its a club of women who speak English as their first language. Kind of a support group for people living in foreign countries. They also plan family activities.

I had my first Italian class in Italy. It went fairly well. We mostly worked on review of words and phrases I already learned. It was good because its been several weeks since I have had a lesson or practiced. Two hours and 15 min is a long class. Overall it went fairly quickly, but the last 20 minutes or so were tough.

After my class, it was Katrina's turn. I took the car and went in search of Super Bike tickets. I thought this would be easier than earlier in the week when I had to find a recorder. I had no idea where a music store was. I do know where the race track is. Unfortunately, I do not have tickets. I was sent in different directions and never found the ticket office. I will enlist Katrina's help and try to find it tomorrow.

Today I am a little frustrated. I feel like a little kid who can't communicate what I want (and I can't cry until I get it...ha!) There are moments when you feel very helpless, even with things that should be very ordinary and simple. Its frustrating and I know it will get easier, but its frustrating right now.

We see so many of these Smart cars everyday and everywhere. They don't even have to parallel park. They are so short they can back up perpendicular to the curb in a parallel parking spot - in between parallel parked cars!

Brandon had his second Italian lesson early this evening. Today was a bit of a struggle for Brandon to focus. He was tired and just overstimulated from the day at school. I helped keep him engaged with some friendly competition of vocabulary.

Tonight we had raviolini's e ricotta e pesto pomodorini...and vino rosso, of course. The raviolini's were stuffed with prociutto crudo - cured ham. We didn't like them as much as the one's stuffed with spinach.

Brandon and Katrina spent some time on the balcony this evening working on some colorful drawings.

Tomorrow is Friday...woohooo!!

A special thanks to Alyssa and Rhonda for offering to send us some drink mixes!!
