About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Bellagio and On to Venice

This morning all of us loaded ourselves into the car and drove Katrina to work. From Katrina's work, we headed up into the hills above Lecco and Como. Mom and Dad wanted to see more of the lakes region.

Our first stop was the lookout above Lago di Como, near La Donna Del Ghisallo, the chapel dedicated to cycling. We enjoyed beautiful weather and blue skies, a change from the fog down in Vedano al Lambro.

We also looked inside the cycling chapel and walked throught the cemetary across the road.

Looking down on Bellagio. The mountains in the distance are Switzerland.

Our drive down into Bellagio was very scenic and colorful. The fall leaves are changing everywhere. We arrived in Bellagio and walked around town a bit. Most shops are now closed for the season, but there were a few open.

It was almost 4pm and we we had to pickup Katrina around 5pm, so we headed back, driving along the shores of Lago di Como towards Lecco. The road is very narrow in spots, which gave Mom and Dad a few thrills.

We picked up Katrina and headed towards Venice. The drive to Venice takes a little over 3 hours. We ended up stopping at a Ciao Restaurant for some dinner along the way. We parked in Mestre and rode the train for the 10 minute ride into Venice.

Apparently there were seatbelt issues...

We finally arrived at our pension around 10pm, tired and ready for bed.

Our pension. It's simple and clean rooms are located in a quiet part of Venice, near the Ospedale.
