Murano, Burano and back to Murano

We had a light breakfast at the hotel this morning: tea, coffee, biscuits and croissants.

After breakfast we caught the Vaporetto to the island of Murano. It was another cloudy day in Venice.

Brandon and I chose to ride outside at the back of the boat.

Murano is world famous for its glass. We strolled the streets along the canals. Katrina and Laurie did a lot of shopping along the way. Heather and Carolyn window shopped. Brandon and I just followed along. Carolyn was hoping to find a glass factory demonstration, but we couldn't find any that were open - off season and weekend.

After spending most of the morning strolling around Murano, we caught another Vaporetto to Burano. Burano is famous for its hand tied lace. Our first order of business was lunch. We found a little cafe and enjoyed a break before checking out the island.

We wandered around Burano then decided that we would head back to Murano to look at a few potential purchases again.

I asked Carolyn to lean over a bit so that I could get both her and Heather in a picture. This is how well they followed instructions.

Much better cooperation this time

We had to catch one more Vaporetto to get back to Venice. The boat that showed up was pretty full and there were quite a few people waiting on the dock. Somehow Heather and I missed our chance and were left to wait for the next boat.

The family was waiting for us when we finally arrived at our stop in Venice. We were all a bit tired so a break in the rooms was taken.

Later in the evening we wandered out into Venice to find some dinner. We found Obillok, a fantastic restaurant. Everyone enjoyed great selections along with wine and dessert.
