Mi piace nuotare nel Mediterraneo - I like swimming in the Mediterranean.
I planned on going for a bike ride this morning while Katrina had her Italian lesson. I left the house just before 9am and rode my usual route towards Como. I had a nice ride. My derailer has been giving me problems the last couple of rides, but it seemed to work just fine today. I rode about 2 km farther today, for a total roundtrip of 42km. In Biassone I had a close call! There was a pack of riders in front of me that I was trying to catch. A car going the opposite direction made a left turn in front of me....no problem. We had plenty of room. Unfortunately, the car behind her also wanted to make a left turn and did not see me. I locked up both breaks and almost crashed into his hood. I could tell by the look on his face that he was sorry. I survived but my nice peaceful self was no longer feeling peaceful.
Katrina was finishing up her lesson when I arrived home. I quickly showered so Brandon and I could go get a haircut before the barber closed for lunch. We hopped on our bikes and rode into Vedano. He was closed! His sign said he closed for lunch at 1pm. It was noon. As we turned around to find another barber, our guy walked up. He had gone down the street to buy a snack. Brandon went first. His long curly locks fell to the floor. Its been so hot that we encouraged him to get a short buzzed haircut. He agreed. He looks so different. I got my hair cut as well.
Before and After
Afterwards, we took a short ride through Parco di Monza before returning home. We wanted some time to have lunch and play MarioKart before our Italian lessons.
Rosella got our Italian lesson time confused again. She keeps thinking it should be at 3pm, when it is scheduled for 2pm. Oh well, its not that important to us. I just want to be finished by 6pm since that is when I usually need to start cooking dinner.
Brandon had a good lesson. It amazes me how much he picks up and so quickly. I wish it was that easy for me. My lesson was difficult, but I made some good progress. I was unable to do the four exercises of homework from lesson because I just did not understand them. Rosella spent significant time on repetition of past tense verbs and I think I am starting to get it. So, this weekend I will try to do the same four exercises again.
We had piadinas and french fries for dinner. The french fries sound American, but they are actually pretty popular here. You can get them with all sorts of sandwiches. A lot of food stands sell french fries only. You can even get them on pizza!
Brandon and Katrina spent the first part of the evening playing MarioKart. I know I've already said it, but what a great game.
