Bike Ride

Il turismo e' fondamentale per l'economia italiana - Tourism is crucial for the Italian economy.

Brandon and I both slept in today. I slept until 9:30 and Brandon slept until a little after 10am. Katrina even slept in until about 8am, I think.

We had a slow morning getting started, but eventually we got ready for the day. Katrina headed off to work. Brandon and I went for a bike ride. First stop was the market. We bought some raspberries, blackberries and strawberries, then found a shady tree and ate everything but the strawberries. Next stop, home to drop off the strawberries. Then we headed over into Vedano to try and get Brandon a much needed haircut. Our barber was not open, so into Parco di Monza we rode. Brandon likes to lead us through the park. I followed him down a single track trail along the Lambro river, then up to Villa Reale. We walked our bikes through the gardens, looking at the streams, waterfalls and ponds, before heading towards home. As we neared Vedano we decided to get granite at Gelateria Judy, but they we closed, so we rode over to our gelato guy and bought some gelato.

We arrived home around 1:30, relieved to enter an air conditioned apartment. We made pb&j sandwiches for lunch and watched Myth Busters. Actually, Brandon had a pb&l sandwich - pb and lingonberry. We bought some lingonberry sauce from IKEA and Brandon decided it would be good for his sandwiches. He's been eating them for weeks now.

I was sick feeling very sick on Saturday and feeling a bit better on Sunday, but not 100%. This morning I had some stomach pains and cramps, but this afternoon I am feeling much better. I'm not sure what bug is trying to get me, but I don't like it.

Watched stage 3 of the Tour de France. Ran over to Supermercato Punto for a few groceries. More watching of the Tour de France. It's pretty warm out, 29c, but still quite a bit cooler than the past week.

I made Tortelli formaggio con le Pere with pesto ricotta sauce, asparagi alla parmigiana, and red wine fizzante. Translated, tortellis with cheese and apple in pesto ricotta sauce, and asparagus baked with parmigiana. It was all good but we decided that the sauce did not go with the apple tortelli's. We need to find a white creamy cheese sauce. I am not a fan of 'bubbly' red wine either. Katrina likes it, depending on the wine.

I spent a nice hour or so chatting with our friend Julia, who lived in our neighborhood in Corvallis, but now lives in Round Rock TX.

This evening Katrina helped Brandon work on a mini scrapbook of Tasha, our golder retriever who is now living with my sister Heather in Colorado. Brandon woke up with the scrapbook idea this morning, so Katrina helped him come up with a plan. they worked on it unitil Brandon's bedtime at 9pm.

We have been reading the first Harry Potter book with Brandon and he is enjoying it.
