About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Regular Day in Italy

Compro la frutta fresca tutti i giorni - I buy fresh fruit every day.

Its Tuesday in Vedano. I'm a little tired after a late night having dinner in Milan. Todays forecast: some sun, 26c.

I did a little shopping at Auchan this morning while Katrina was having her Italian lesson. That was followed by Katrina going to work and me having my lesson. I'm slowly, very slowly making progress. I understand more than I can actually speak. I do feel more comfortable than I did 4 weeks ago, but I really can't have much of a conversation with anyone that does not speak English. By the way, here in Italy we speak Americano, not Inglese.

I enjoyed some Uncle Ben's tortilla chips and salsa this afternoon. I had no idea that Uncle Ben's made these products. I thought they just made rice and noodle box products. Their salsa leaves a bit to be desired. If anyone has a great salsa recipe, please send it my way.

It was a very warm walk to pickup Brandon at school today. Brandon had his Italian class at 4:30. He is doing pretty well, but has a bit of a hard time staying focused. I think it will be easier for him when he is out of school this summer.

This evening I made Pasta con Tonno e Briciole - pasta with tuna and bread crumbs - and some Italian white wine. I like the Italian name better! We all enjoyed it very much. Tomorrow we will be trying an Italian salmon recipe.

We are all fairly tired this evening. Katrina still had to work from 9 - 11pm. I don't know how she does it. I usually stay up, but I'm not working. I had a great chat with my friend Andy on Skype this evening. All is well in Corvallis.
