About Me

I am a 45 year husband and dad, currently adjusting to life back in the United States after living in Italy for a little over two years. I love spending time with my family, cycling, model railroading, mosaics and watching TV and movies.

Box

Once again we woke up to a beautiful sunny day.

Katrina had her first Italian lesson in several weeks. We have an instructor coming to the house for each of us. Katrina and Brandon are setup for Tuesday's and Thursday's. My lessons have not been setup yet. I'm feeling a little anxious about the lessons. I don't know why? It's not like I'm being graded on them and all that I learn just makes daily life that much easier. Brandon starts his first home lesson after school today.

While Katrina was having her lesson, I went out in search of a recorder - the instrument. We were given several leads on where to find them, but I could not find any of the stores. After an hour of random driving, which was fun just to explore, I happened to spot a music store. Luck was with me and I found a recorder. Now Brandon can join in during music class.

Our car is a Fiat Idea. Very small, but with an incredible turning radius. A feature that is very important here in Italy. We wanted to show you how small our box (garage) is. When you back out you have only about 2 inches on each side of the mirrors. I hope four bikes fit when they get here.

Brandon had his first official Italian lesson this afternoon. He wasn't even nervous and did very well, especially for 1 1/2 hours of Italian after a full day of school. I sat in on the class and learned a few new words myself. I look forward to my instruction starting again.

We had piadina's for dinner. Basically its a Italian tortilla-like bread with ham or salami and provolone, melted in the oven. We also had olives and wine - orangia rossa for Brandon.

Brandon is having some trouble with his multiplication tables. The don't really start learning them until the end of 2nd grade and really learn them in 3rd grade. At the international school they learned them early this year, so Brandon is a little behind. We will need to practice with him each day until he starts getting it.
