Off to Sorrento, Via Napoli Airport

We headed south to Naples and Sorrento today. Our flight left Malpensa at noon and we arrived in Naples around 1:45. From the airport we had to take a one hour bus ride to Sorrento.

Riding the bus to Sorrento

The ride through the city was interesting. Once we left the city it became amazing. Roads clinging to the cliffsides and great views of the sea.

We arrived in Sorrento around 3:30pm. The bus driver dropped us off near our hotel.

(I am typing this as I eavesdrop on some college students talking about their travels. Its interesting and funny.)

We are staying at the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel. It's a hostel that feels more like a 4 star hotel. They have hotel service, private and shared rooms and much more, all for a little over 100 euro a night for 4 of us (dormitory rooms are as low as 20 euro a night). Very nice and just a few hundred meters from the city center.

Lemons are the fruit of this region. They come in all shapes and sizes. The traditional drink is Limoncello, an after dinner lemon drink with 25 - 45% alchohol. Its very tasty. All the shops are happy to share samples of their limoncello.

Our hotel

This evening we walked around Sorrento, checking out the shops and Christmas lights. Its a beautiful little town. All the streets were lit up for the season and all the shops were full of people.

We enjoyed some tasty pasta and wine for dinner, then headed back to our room for the night. Tomorrow we will head to Pompeii.
