Katrina and I headed to Venice this morning. It is so crazy that Venice is only 2-3 hours away and we can go there for one night. Crazy!
We arrived in Mestre just after lunch, parked the car and caught the train across the lagoon into Venice. Once in Venice, we rode a vaporetto to our hotel near St. Mark's Square. We chose to stay in a different hotel this time (we've stayed in the same one each of the past three visits), Hotel Campiello.
After getting checked in, I decided to take a nap while Katrina took the vaporetto to Burano. She wanted to take some pictures and Burano is one of her favorite islands.
She returned a few hours later, after 8pm, and I met her outside the hotel. Our primary objective of visiting Venice, other than some time away, was for Katrina to take nighttime pictures.
We headed towards the Academia to start and made our way slowly towards the Rialto Bridge.

Time for dinner. We decided that our favorite Cinese restaurant sounded best, and since we were nearby, it was only a short walk. It was delicious, as usual.
Most towns we have visited have a pedestrian zone with high end shopping. Here is a Versace window: Abito (dress) 1400 euro, pantalone (pants) 490 euro, scarpa (shoes) 690 euro, borsa (bag) 1500 euro, windowshopping with a camera 0 euro.
After dinner we walked through Venice towards S. Marco Square and eventually back to the hotel for the night.
