We woke up to cloudy skies and sprinkles this morning, our rafting morning.
We met the rafting guides in Carbondale, then drove to the river entry point. We would be floating down the Roaring Fork River to the takeout point on the Colorado River.
We picked a mild rafting route, and it proved to be just that. We had some rapids, but nothing too intense. Jeff and I did get pretty wet since we were on the front of the raft. Most of the trip was relaxing, with very little paddling, almost a bit too mild. We were able to see osprey and bald eagles along the way.
The Roaring Fork River empties into the Colorado River just west of Glenwood Springs. From there we floated about a mile or two to the takeout point. I guess Glenwood Canyon is closed to rafters due to really high water.
We enjoyed a BBQ lunch of hamburgers, hot dogs, pulled pork, potato salad, cole slaw, brownies and chocolate chip cookies riverside before heading back to Carbondale.
What a great time! Too bad it was too wet for pictures.
